Aston Martin Completes New York Residence

Automotive manufacturer Aston Martin has collaborated with US studio S3 Architecture to complete the Sylvan Rock residential compound in Red Hook, Upstate New York. This project marks the brand's first US residence, featuring a design that follows the natural slope of the site. The structure is defined by a faceted, black-metal roofline that mimics the jagged edges of the local rock ledge, extending down to meet the ground at a walkway leading to the primary entrance.

The residence is composed of two main levels built around the site's outcroppings. The lower level includes a garage carved into the rockspace, functioning as a subterranean plinth for one of two swimming pool areas. A glass bridge connects the main living spaces to an auxiliary spa and sauna area. The elevated portion of the home consists of glass walls interspersed with black metal panelling, housing four bedrooms and five bathrooms.

The interior design, handled by the Aston Martin team, utilizes a largely monotone palette accented by luxury wood finishes and stone. A floating staircase serves as a central element, providing access to upper-level bedroom suites that feature balconies overlooking the wooded surroundings. The living and dining areas are situated on the ground plane, while wooden ceilings and multiple fireplaces are integrated throughout the primary spaces, including the primary suite.

The design incorporates several direct references to the automotive brand's identity. Custom furniture produced by Aston Martin is featured throughout the home, alongside specific aesthetic nods such as a lattice motif covering the wine storage in the primary lounge. Additionally, the residence includes a movie theatre with seating reminiscent of automobile seats.
