Dallas Art Fair to Relocate to SMU

The Dallas Art Fair is set to relocate from the Fashion Industry Gallery in the downtown Arts District to the campus of Southern Methodist University. Starting in April 2027, the fair will occupy the 67,000-square-foot Armstrong Fieldhouse. This transition marks a shift from the city's longtime home to a venue characterized by higher ceilings, natural light, and an open floor plan.

The move is framed as a collaboration between a major international contemporary art fair and a university. Organizers indicate the new space will allow dealers to present larger installations and more elaborate exhibitions. The layout is expected to facilitate better visitor flow through booths and will include an as-yet undisclosed high-end dining option on the grounds.

Beyond the change in real estate, the partnership with SMU includes initiatives such as internships and educational programs designed to connect students and faculty with artists, collectors, and galleries. The fair's founder, John Sughrue, described the move as a strategic investment intended to advance the fair's international ambitions and its role within the local cultural ecosystem.

The 2027 edition is scheduled to run from April 15 to 18. For long-term participants, the relocation to the Armstrong Fieldhouse represents a significant statement of intent as the fair continues to expand its outreach and collector base.
