Pace Gallery Reports Significant Revenue Decline

Financial filings show a 35.5 percent drop in turnover and a recorded loss.

Pace Gallery has filed its 2024 accounts with Companies House, marking a ten-month delay from the required filing date. The figures for the UK-registered entity, The Pace Gallery Limited, reveal a turnover of $67.69 million for the 2024 period. This represents a 35.5 percent decrease from the $104.95 million reported in 2023. Alongside the decline in revenue, the gallery recorded a pre-tax loss of $2,429, a reversal from the $6.8 million profit documented in the previous year.

The filing comes following a period of restructuring within the global organization. During the previous summer, the gallery announced a series of cuts involving its staff and artist roster, which included the removal of 100 artists and staff members. The group operates seven international locations, including an eight-story flagship in Chelsea that underwent a $100 million renovation in 2019.

The financial data indicates a shift in the company's net assets and debt obligations. Net assets for the UK entity totaled $2.48 million, down from $4.51 million in 2023. The amount payable to the US parent company, The Pace Gallery LLC, stood at $9.39 million, compared to $17.31 million in 2023.

The report notes that The Pace Gallery Limited carries a debt of $19.2 million, which the company is currently unable to repay to its US parent. According to the filings, this debt is scheduled to be converted into shares by the end of 2026. The company stated that this proposed debt-for-equity conversion is part of a broader global financial management strategy.

The UK-registered entity serves as an umbrella company for the group's international operations, excluding the specific locations in Tokyo and the United States.

Takeaway: The Pace Gallery Limited recorded a pre-tax loss of $2,429 for the 2024 fiscal year.
